I’ve been pissed off since 1989 when Pierre Trudeau declared that Canada was “multicultural” and the official policy was “multiculturalism”. It wasn’t a fact. It was a Liberal policy. Pisses me off that the Conservative Party NEVER reversed this policy. My reasoning in 1989 and still: If we are a multicultural country, then what the hell happens to Canadian culture? What of our very identity as Canadians? Canadians were always well known and respected world wide. Our accent, politeness, calm nature and kindness. Also our fierce military in two world wars. Military Brat here. Always a proud Canadian. But what the hell is a Canadian now? A Pakistani with a heavy accent who travels to England and has our passport? Oh, Canada!
